Terra Cotta Warriors HorsesXian - The Terra Cotta Warriors

Built in the 3th Century BC to protect the first Emperor of China in his afterlife, this massive underground necropolis holds 8000 soldiers, 130 chariots and 520 horses. It is spectacular! Each soldier has different facial features. Each was built using coils, and painted bright colors which have disappeared all these centuries later. It must be seen to be believed.

GuilinGUILIN

Famous for its limestone quartz rock formations, especially along the Li River, formed 200 million years ago when the ocean receded from the area, Guilin’s natural beauty is mystical.Cruising the Li gives you a sense of why people come to see nature’s amazing handiwork. There are limestone hills in and around the city, and caves with stone tablet inscriptions worth visiting. You can also go to some minority tribal villages in the area including the Yao, Miao and Dong.

YANGSHUO EXTENSIONYANGSHUO EXTENSION

The Li River cruise ends in Yangshuo. Most travelers then take the bus back to Guilin on the same day. You can stay if you wish.

This small town is ideal for exploring by bicycle to observe its awesome limestone pinnacles, its karst skyline in and around town, and in neighboring villages. It is also ideal for hiking up some of the peaks for stunning views. Bike 5 miles out to Moon Mountain, or take a 3 hour river trip to lesser known villages on the Li River (by official tourist boat only).
