SEOUL ADDITIONAL SIGHTSEEING

Full day tour of DMZ and the 3rd Tunnel - First visit the Imjingak Park, built in 1972 with the hope that someday there the two Koreas would be unified. Then head to Dorasan Observatory, where North Korean military personnel are visible, as well as Gaeseong and Geumgangsan Mountains.

The visit the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, discovered in 1978 and located only 52 km from Seoul. Then stop by Dorasan Station, a railway station of the Gyeongui Line, the northernmost stop on South Korea's railway system, and the Unification Village. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Passport required to enter the Demilitarized Zone.

Intinerary:

Day 1:
Arrive at Incheon Airport. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight at the Center Mark Hotel.

Day 2:
Breakfast at the hotel. Take a city tour of Seoul. First visit Gwanghwamun Gate, built by the first king of Joseon Dynasty, then head to Gyeongbok Palace, the most beautiful of the 5 palaces in Seoul. Visit the ginseng center and drive by the Blue House, home to South Korea's president. Then visit the Namsangol Hanok Village, to see traditional Korean houses. Finally, visit N Seoul Tower to see a panoramic view of the city. Lunch at a local restaurant. Overnight at the Center Mark Hotel.

Day 3:
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Gongju, the ancient capital of the Baekje Kingdom. Experience a tea ceremony with a Buddhist monk at Magoksa Temple, surrounded by mountains and rivers. Visit the tomb of the Muryeong King, then head to Gongsanseong Fortress, a mountain castle built during the Baekje Period. Drive to Daejeon, have dinner, and overnight at the Daejeon Interciti Hotel.

Day 4:
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Jeonju and visit the Jeonju Hanok village, with over 800 traditional Korean houses. Bibimbab lunch at a local restaurant. Then visit Tapsa Temple in Jinan, which is famous for its 80 plus stone pagodas. Drive to Gwangju. Dinner and overnight at the Holiday Inn Gwangju.

Day 5:
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Boseong Green Tea Plantation and the Naganeupseong Folk Village. Then head to Suncheonman Bay Ecological Park to get a taste of local wildlife. Drive to Yongsan Observatory to get a view of the local bay, then to the Suncheonman Bay Eco-Museum to learn about the area's natural habitats. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the Hidden Bay Hotel.

Day 6:
Breakfast at the hotel. Take a ferry to Odongo Island and walk around the island on your own. Then visit Jinjuseong Fortress, which protected Korea from Japanese invasions in the 16th Century. Drive to Busan and visit Dongbaekseom Island and Haeundae Beach. Dinner at a local restaurant. Ovenight at the Novotel Ambassador Busan.

Day 7:
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Ulsan and visit Ulgi Park to see the unique rock formations that have been carved by the wind and ocean. Next explore Bulguksa Temple, designated as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. Visit the Gyeongju National Museum, Tumuli Parka, and Cheomseongdae Observatory. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at the Gyeongju Hilton.

Day 8:
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Andong and visit the Andong Hahoe village, home to descendants of the Ryu clan of Pungsan. Then drive to Wonju and visit the Hanji Paper Park, where you can experience the Hanji paper-making process. Drive to Pyeongchang. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight at the Intercontinental Alpensia Pyeongchang Resort.

Day 9:
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Gangreung to visit the Jumunjin Seafood Market. Then take a short hike on Mt. Seorak to see beautiful waterfalls and nature. Lunch at a local restaurant. Drive to Seoul. Overnight at the Center Mark Hotel.

Day 10:
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
