Day 03:BANGKOK-PHITSANULOKE

This morning the tour begins from Bangkok as we drive north (approximately 1 hour drive) to Bang Pa-In, a Royal Summer Palace set in the beautiful gardens. The Palace combines an exotic mixture of Thai and European architecture. After the visit, we proceed to the ancient city of Ayuthaya. Explore ruined temples and palaces and admire the extensive canal and river network which helped Ayuthaya to flourish. Lunch will be provided at local restaurant.

After lunch, drive (approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes) through scenic countryside to Lopburi, the former summer capital of Siam. See the magnificent stone carvings of Phra Prang Sam Yod , stop at the Kala Shrine of Sarn Prakarn which was a Buddhist sanctuary in the mid 13th century. Hundreds of monkeys have made this temple complex their home. Drive north to the town of Phitsanuloke (approximately 3 ½ hours). The shrine of Wat Mahathat in Phitsanuloke is venerated throughout Thailand.

Day 04:PHITSANULOKE-CHIANG RAI

After breakfast, visit Sukhothai (1 hour drive), the ancient capital of Thailand in the 13th century, explore the many ruined temples and monasteries. Further north, visit Sri Satchanalai (approx 2 hour drive), which was Sukhothai’s twin city. Lunch will be at local restaurant.

Afternoon drive (approximately 3 ½ hours)through rural Thailand and stop at small town of Phayao which dates back to the 11th century to enjoy refreshments beside a lake. Arrive Chiang Rai (approximately 1 hour and 15 minute drive), check-in at hotel.

Day 05:CHIANG RAI

After breakfast, board 'pick-up’ vans to climb narrow mountainous roads and visit several villages. Enjoy mountain views from Doi Mae Salong (approximately 1 hour and 15 minute drive), a Chinese settlement founded by Komintang soldiers who fled from China after Mao Tse Tung’s victory in1949. Return to the valley for lunch before driving to Mae Sai (approximately 1 hour drive), Thailand’s northernmost town near the Myanmar border. You can watch Thai and Myanmar locals walking across the bridge separating the two countries. From Mae Sai, drive to Golden Triangle (approximately ½ hour drive) where the Ruak and Mekong Rivers meet, enjoy view over Myanmar, Laos ,Thailand and the Mekong River. Visit Chiang Saen, where evidence of the orginal 13th century city can still be seen.

Day 06:CHIANG RAI-CHIANG MAI

Depart from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai (approximately 2 ½ hour drive) stopping on the way at Mae Ka Chan,famous for a hot spring. Lunch will be served a local restaurant. Continue the drive to Chiang Mai and before arriving in the town, stop to visit the hilltop temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep which offers spectacular views of the Chiang Mai area.

Tonight, enjoy the northern Thai dinner known as Kantok. Traditional dishes will be served while watching dancers performing a series of folk stories. Colourful dressed hilltribes will perform their own traditional dances after dinner.

Day 07: CHIANG MAI

Morning visit one of the elephant camps where skilled ’mahout’ show how Elephants have worked in the jungle for centuries. Amazed by the strength and deftness , a chance to see the elephants relaxing as they bathe in the river. Lunch at local restaurant before heading out of town to Chiang Mai famous cottage industries. See silkworms and the process of spinning silk as well as the art of using handlooms to make intricate patterned silk fabrics. Marvel at the transformation of bamboo, silk and paper into hand-painted multi-coloured umbrellas and at skilled potters creating distinctive Thai Celadon. Wood carvers are chipping away busily at teakwood to produce elegant ornaments and furniture. The process of making lacquerware is fascinating to watch too.

DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 : Chiang Mai – Nature Lodge (Lunch , Dinner)

Arrive Chiang Mai Airport early morning or pick up at Chiang Mai City Hotels
Travel north on Chiang Mai-Thaton route to Chiang Dao Elephant Training Camp. Enjoy the spectacular scenery along the way. Then visit Orchid Nursery to see a large collection of more than 50 different types of colorful exotic year-round-bloom orchids. After taking great pleasure at the Orchid Nursery, continue on to the camp. Arrive at the camp , watch a herd of elephants taking bath in mountain stream and a brief demonstration of elephants work in the remote jungle. After the show, take 1.5 hrs. elephant ride to Lisu Hilltribes Village. Local lunch will be served. After lunch, an experience trip by taking bamboo rafting for 1hr. along Mae Ping River. Then, route to Prao.

Day 2 : Nature Lodge – Palong Village (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Depart to visit Buatong water fall, one of the most beautiful area by it's clean and clear water, then we continue to more north of Phrao where the place getting for starting trek. From there, walking along the dusty and muddy road which depend on the season time where the Lahu village of Phang Tong is located.( 30-45 minutes)

Continue walking along a mountain side to the Red Karen hilltribe of Baan Pha Lai from where you have a spectacular view of beautiful mountain. (1.30-2.00 hrs)

After lunch, walking through the hilltribe farm and the beautiful scenery to the village where you stop to visit the Lisu hilltribe, then continue to Baan Huay E-Po where the Akha hilltribe is located (30-45 minutes). From there, transfer by local open air-truck to Baan Pang Dang Nok where the Palong hilltribe living. Palong 's one of hilltribes in the north whom spectacular wearing many belts. Later in the evening, dinner will be served at the village.

Day 3 : Palong Village-Chiang Rai (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Depart to the Chiang Dao Caves. After a period of exploration, lunch will be served before setting out to visit other hilltribes in the area, including Lisu and Akha. Continue driving to Doi Mae Salong to see a Chinese refugee village. Arrive Chiang Rai in late afternoon.

Day 4 : Depart Chiang Rai (Breakfast / Lunch)

After breakfast, visit to Mae Sai in the northern most part of Thailand near the Myanmar border. From there, you will travel to the infamous Golden Triangle, the place where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) meet. This is a place known for magnificent mountain scenery, ruins of ancient settlements, historic sites, Buddhist shrines and ethnic villages. Immediately following the exploration of the border area, guests will take a boat ride along the majestic Mekong River to ancient Chiang Saen. Lunch is included. Afterward, transfer to Chiang Rai Airport or back to Chiang Mai.
