Breakfast at Hotel
This morning the tour begins from Bangkok as we drive north (approximately 1 hour drive) to Bang Pa-In, a Royal Summer Palace set in the beautiful gardens. The Palace combines an exotic mixture of Thai and European architecture. After the visit, we proceed to the ancient city of Ayuthaya. Explore ruined temples and palaces and admire the extensive canal and river network which helped Ayuthaya to flourish. Lunch will be provided at local restaurant.
After lunch, drive (approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes) through scenic countryside to Lopburi, the former summer capital of Siam. See the magnificent stone carvings of Phra Prang Sam Yod , stop at the Kala Shrine of Sarn Prakarn which was a Buddhist sanctuary in the mid 13th century. Hundreds of monkeys have made this temple complex their home. Drive north to the town of Phitsanuloke (approximately 3 ½ hours). The shrine of Wat Mahathat in Phitsanuloke is venerated throughout Thailand.
Breakfast at Hotel
After breakfast, visit Sukhothai (1 hour drive), the ancient capital of Thailand in the 13th century, explore the many ruined temples and monasteries. Further north, visit Sri Satchanalai (approx 2 hour drive), which was Sukhothai’s twin city. Lunch will be at local restaurant.
Afternoon drive (approximately 3 ½ hours)through rural Thailand and stop at small town of Phayao which dates back to the 11th century to enjoy refreshments beside a lake. Arrive Chiang Rai (approximately 1 hour and 15 minute drive), check-in at hotel.
After breakfast, board 'pick-up’ vans to climb narrow mountainous roads and visit several villages. Enjoy mountain views from Doi Mae Salong (approximately 1 hour and 15 minute drive), a Chinese settlement founded by Komintang soldiers who fled from China after Mao Tse Tung’s victory in1949. Return to the valley for lunch before driving to Mae Sai (approximately 1 hour drive), Thailand’s northernmost town near the Myanmar border. You can watch Thai and Myanmar locals walking across the bridge separating the two countries. From Mae Sai, drive to Golden Triangle (approximately ½ hour drive) where the Ruak and Mekong Rivers meet, enjoy view over Myanmar, Laos ,Thailand and the Mekong River. Visit Chiang Saen, where evidence of the orginal 13th century city can still be seen.
Depart from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai (approximately 2 ½ hour drive) stopping on the way at Mae Ka Chan,famous for a hot spring. Lunch will be served a local restaurant. Continue the drive to Chiang Mai and before arriving in the town, stop to visit the hilltop temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep which offers spectacular views of the Chiang Mai area.
Tonight, enjoy the northern Thai dinner known as Kantok. Traditional dishes will be served while watching dancers performing a series of folk stories. Colourful dressed hilltribes will perform their own traditional dances after dinner.
Morning visit one of the elephant camps where skilled ’mahout’ show how Elephants have worked in the jungle for centuries. Amazed by the strength and deftness , a chance to see the elephants relaxing as they bathe in the river. Lunch at local restaurant before heading out of town to Chiang Mai famous cottage industries. See silkworms and the process of spinning silk as well as the art of using handlooms to make intricate patterned silk fabrics. Marvel at the transformation of bamboo, silk and paper into hand-painted multi-coloured umbrellas and at skilled potters creating distinctive Thai Celadon. Wood carvers are chipping away busily at teakwood to produce elegant ornaments and furniture. The process of making lacquerware is fascinating to watch too.

Day 1: Chiang Mai – Palong Village (Lunch/Dinner)
Transfer in Chiang Mai Airport/Pick up at Chiang Mai City Hotels, Route to Mae Rim Enjoy the spectacular scenery along the way. Then visit an Orchid Nursery to see a large collection of more than 50 different types of colorful, exotic, year-round-bloom orchids.
Visit Buatong waterfall, one of the most beautiful this area. Then continue to the northern Prao area, and hike to the Lahu village of Phang Tong (30-45 minutes.)
Continue walking along a mountainside to the Red Karen hill-tribe of Baan Pha Lai, where you will have a spectacular view of the beautiful mountains.(1.30-2.00 hrs)
After lunch, walk through the local farms and the beautiful scenery to the Lisu village where you stop to visit the hill-tribe, then continue to Baan Huay E-Po where the Akha hill-tribe is located (30-45 minutes). From there, return transfer by local open air-tuck to Baan Pang Dang-Nok where the Palong hill-tribe lives. The Palong people are known for wearing many belts. Dinner will be served at the village.

Day 2: Palong Village – Elephant Camp – Nature Lodge (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Breakfast at the Village. Travel north on the Chiang Mai – Thaton route to Chiang Dao Elephant Training Camp. Watch the elephants taking a bath in the mountain stream, then enjoy a brief demonstration of elephants work in the remote jungle. After the show, take 1.5 hrs elephant ride to Lisu hill tribe village. Local lunch will be served. Then enjoy a bamboo raft ride along Mae Ping River. Continue on to Prao.
Dinner and overnight at Nature Lodge (Non air-conditioned room)
Day 3: Nature Lodge - Doi Mae Salong - Chiang Rai (Breakfast / Lunch)
Breakfast at Nature Lodge. Visit Wat Tham Tab Tao which has been an ancient place of worship for over 100 years. The name of the temple comes from the Northern Thai language. The age of Wat Tham Tab Tao is not known, but the nine meter tall statue of Buddha built in Ayutthaya style is believed to date back to 1592. After exploring the caves at Wat Tham Tab Tao, enjoy lunch at Thaton. After lunch, drive to Doi Mae Salong to see a Chinese refugee village and visit a tea plantation. Arrive in Chiang Rai in the late afternoon.

Day 4: Depart Chiang Rai (Lunch)
Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Mae Sai in the northernmost part of Thailand. From there, you will travel to the infamous Golden Triangle, the place where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar (Burma) meet. This is a place known for magnificent mountain scenery, ruins of ancient settlements, historic sites, Buddhist shrines and ethnic villages. Then take a boat ride along the majestic Mekong River to ancient Chiang Saen. After enjoying a quick lunch, drive to the Chiang Rai airport or back to Chiang Mai.
