Now the countries that were the center of all that trade and travel are rising up again, linking Eastern and Western cultures, and offering up astounding sights for anyone willing to make the journey. Their beauty, culture, and history is not to be missed.

DAY 1 : Almaty

Arrive in Almaty, Kazakhstan and transfer to your hotel to rest. Breakfast at the hotel.

 

Since most flights into Central Asia arrive in the middle of the night, there will be lunch at a local restaurant followed by a short tour to Kok Tobe, the highest point in the city. This will allow you to get some sleep after a long flight, but still see some of Almaty.

DAY 2: Almaty city tour & falcon farm

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a tour of Almaty with visit to First President Park which commemorates Kazakhstan's independence, the Almaty Museum, the Green Bazaar, and the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen. Enjoy lunch a local restaurant.

​

In the afternoon visit a Falcon Farm to see a specatcular show with specially trained hawks, falcons, and eagles that have been trained to hunt with humans.

DAY 3: Visit Kazakh nomads

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Head to Gunny Ethnic Village to get a taste of the traditional nomadic lifestyle of the Kazakh peoples. Experience important rituals, learn how to make Kazakh pastries, and even how to build a yurt!

 

Lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the city for some free time.

DAY 4: Fly to Bishkek

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the stunning Medeo Gorge which is known for its natural beauty and its mountain sports complex where athletes from around the world train to compete.
 

Lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to the airport for your flight to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Upon arriving in Bishkek, transfer to the hotel.

DAY 5: Burana & Cholpon Ata

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to the Issyk Kul region located in the north-east of Kyrgyzstan. Visit the ancient Burana Tower of the lost 9th century city of Balasagyn.

Stop for lunch in Iskra village, where you'll join a Dungan family at their home. This unique Muslim Chinese group immigrated to the region over 100 years ago and have retained their own culture.

​

Visit the rock carvings of Cholpon Ata and enjoy a boat trip on Issyk Kul Lake before dinner at your hotel in Cholpon Ata.

DAY 6: Return to Bishkek

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Bishkek with lunch along the way. In the afternoon take a tour of the Osh Bazaar.

DAY 7: Fly to Tashkent

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a tour of Bishkek including Victory Square, Ala-Too Square, and many monuments of Kyrgyzstan's past and present.

Have lunch at a local restaurant and transfer to the airport for your flight to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Upon arrival in Tashkent, transfer to the hotel.

DAY 8: Tashkent

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a tour of Tashkent including the Khast Imam complex, with mosques, madrassas, and libraries from the 16th Century. The complex is home to one of the oldest official copies of the Quran, commissioned by Muhammed himself. Head to Chorsu Bazaar, the biggest in Tashkent, which boasts an eye-catching dome from the Soviet era and sells just about everything under the sun. 

 

Have lunch at a local restaurant before taking a ride through Tashkent's stunning Soviet-era metro. Then visit Amir Temur Square and the Applied Art Museum to learn about the artistic culture of Uzbekistan.

DAY 9: Tashkent to Bukhara

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a local train or flight to Bukhara (depending on availability) and step back into time. Once Bukhara was one of the most important cities of the Silk Roads, and it still holds onto much of its beauty. Visit the Ismail Samani Mausoleum, the Bolo-Hauz mosque, and the Ark Fortress of the Bukharan emirs.

 

Have lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the stunning Poi-Kalan Complex and wandering the streets of the Old City.

DAY 10: Bukhara

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Start the day with a visit to the Sitora-i-Mokhi-Khosa palace, the former summer residence of the emir, then head to Chor Minor Mosque.

 

Have lunch at a local restaurant before wandering the Tim Abdullah Khan Bazaar, one of the only remaining bazaars that dates back to the Silk Roads period. Visit the Lyabi-Hauz district and the Magok-I Attari Mosque, which once was a place of worship for Muslims, Jews, and Zoroastrians. Tour the Jewish Quarter of Bukhara before enjoying a folkloric show and dinner at the Nodir Devon Begi Madrasah.

DAY 11: Bukhara to Samarkand

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Start the journey towards Samarkand with a stop at the Gijduvan Museum of Ceramics, where a family has passed down traditional Uzbek ceramic arts for several generations.

​

Stop for lunch with a local family in Mitan Village to get a taste of home made Uzbek food such as plov.

​

Drive to Samarkand and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 12: Samarkand

​

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the heart of Samarkand's old city, starting with the Gur-i Amir Mausoleum, the resting place of Amir Temur, also known as Tamerlane and the inspiration for much of Mughal architecture. Then head to Registan Square with it's 3 towering madrassahs, easily one of the most beautiful sites in Uzbekistan with their intricate mosaics.

 

Stop for lunch at a local restaurant, then continue to visit the impressive Bibi Khanum Mosque, the largest in Central Asia, and Siab Bazaar. Then head over to the Shahi Zinda Necropolis, the final resting place of many important historical figures.

DAY 13: Train to Tashkent

​

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, visit the Ulugbek Observatory, the center for astronomical study during the reign of Ulugbek and the Mausoleum of the prophet Daniel, a pilgrimage site for Muslims, Jews, and Christians alike. Spend some time at the Afrasiab Museum, walking among what was once Samarkand before the Mongolian invasion.

 

Have lunch at a local restaurant and visit the Kongil Paper Factory, which has preserved ancient paper-making techniques for centuries.

​

Transfer to the train station for your train to Tashkent. Upon arrival, head to a farewell dinner before transferring to the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
